ATLANTA– This is week 5 for high school football in the Peach State. There will be something new in Cobb County, where Kennesaw State’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium will host (American) football for the first time. The venue that was originally built for soccer will be the site of the annual Civil War between North Cobb and Kennesaw Mountain. The Athletic Department at KSU is excited about showing off the home of the Owls football program starting in 2015.

Elsewhere around the metro area the unbeaten teams are on display. In Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge travels to Mill Creek in a battle of undefeated teams. In town, St. Pius visits Lovett in a showdown of teams with perfect records. Lovett is coming off a stunning double overtime victory at Marist last week.

Down on the southside, Unbeaten Union Grove visits Whitewater, while the Lovejoy Wildcats try to keep their record perfect against East Coweta. The Washington Bulldogs are the only unbeaten team left in their region and will host Stone Mountain in the nightcap at Lakewood Stadium. Decatur’s 3-0 record includes a dramatic win over Grady. The Bulldogs will host Clarkston this Friday.

In Cobb County, Marietta visits unbeaten McEachern for their annual grudge match, while in East Cobb, Wheeler entertains an undefeated Etowah squad. Milton is still perfect as they visit Roswell in a backyard rivalry that is always fun. Chattahoochee will host a 3-0 North Forsyth team, while unbeaten South Forsyth will entertain Lambert.

Then there are a pair of rather interesting matchups in Gwinnett for different reasons.. Berkmar is off to an unusual 3-0 start and could go to 4-0 with a win against struggling Central Gwinnett. The other game has Archer at 3-0 against winless Parkview.

Think about this, an Archer win would make the Tigers 4-0 and set up a rare sight for Georgia high school football fans. It would send the Parkview Panthers into their annual showdown with Brookwood at 0-4. That would make the Battle of Five Forks Trickum a match up of winless teams a week from Friday.A rare sight indeed.
