National Signing Day is coming up on February 3rd, and with that in mind college recruiters are working feverishly to make sure that high school seniors who are verbally committed stay true, while keeping an eye out for those who are uncommitted or have had a change of heart. It is that uncommitted or changed recruit who can elevate a school’s recruiting class from good to great.

It really should come as no surprise that with the flurry of coaching changes at the end of the 2015 season there will be a higher than usual number of the nations elite recruits who will be taking their decision right down to the final hours. Many of those top recruits are here in the state of Georgia.

The leader of the pack is Lanier’s Derrick Brown, who has been listed as the state’s number one recruit since before the 2015 season began. The 6-3, 317 pound Defensive Tackle capped off an outstanding senior season by playing in the US Army All-American Bowl. This past weekend Brown visited Georgia and new coach Kirby Smart and is slated to visit Tennessee next weekend. Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State are tops on his list, with Georgia the favorite.

Right behind Brown in the state’s ranking is Elbert County’s Mecole Hardman, Jr. At 5-10 , 170 pounds Hardman excels on both sides of the ball and joined Brown in San Antonio representing Georgia in the Army All-American Bowl. Alabama is thought to be the favorite for Hardman, but last weekend Mecole passed on a chance to attend the Crimson Tide’s Championship celebration in Tuscaloosa, instead visiting Georgia and Coach Smart. Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State are also on Mecole Hardman’s list.

The number 3 recruit from the state , Savannah Christian’s Demetrius Robertson, is also uncommitted . The 5-11, 175 pound Wide Receiver also played in the Army All-American Bowl and has Notre Dame listed as the clubhouse leader. Robertson is also considering Georgia, Alabama, Stanford and Cal.

Peachtree Ridge’s Nigel Warrior is the 7th ranked player in Georgia. The 6-0, 186 pound Safety help lead the Lions to the state playoffs, then represented Georgia in Army All-American Bowl. Tennessee is Nigel’s favorite and he is set to visit Knoxville next weekend. Last weekend Warrior visited Auburn ands Alabama. Georgia and LSU are on his list, but seem to be on the outside.

Archer’s E.J. Price is also uncommitted . The state’s 10th ranked recruit is a 6-6, 311 pound Offensive Lineman who played in the Under Armour All-American Game. E.J. Will visit Coach Smart in Athens this week, as Georgia is his favorite. Auburn is second on Price’s list, he visited the Tigers last week.
