The Emerging Administrators Academy (Emerging AD) is pleased to announce its partnership with Clayton State University’s Continuing Education Department to host the 3rd Annual Emerging Administrators Academy. This annual Intercollegiate Athletics professional development academy will be held July 12-14, 2015 on the beautiful campus of Clayton State University located in South Metro Atlanta, GA.
Created and founded by Clayton State’s Director of Athletics, Tim Duncan, having Emerging AD on a college campus is vital to its growth and focus of education and development. “I am extremely pleased to bring the Emerging Administrators Academy to Clayton State University,” shares Duncan. “I think it is a natural fit to hold an educational program designed for intercollegiate athletic administrators on a college campus. Moreover, I am proud to bring dozens of athletic administrators to the campus I call home. Now they will experience the beauty and serenity those of us in the South Atlanta Metro area know and love”.
“We are proud to partner with Tim and Emerging AD to provide an excellent educational experience that will prepare administrators to take that next leap in their career development.” states Karen LaMarsh, Director, Center for Continuing Education. “The caliber of the facilitators is exceptional!”
Emerging Administrators Academy was developed to fill a gap in the professional development lifecycle of Intercollegiate Athletic Administrators. Emerging AD will provide hands-on training by athletic directors whose experience and insight working in the industry will help in the development and training of collegiate athletic administrators to advance their careers.
This year’s Emerging AD target audience will shift specifically to Division I Assistant Directors to Assistant Athletic Directors, Divisions II, III and NAIA Directors to Associate Athletic Directors and a limited number of graduate students and non-traditional background candidates.
Returning instructors and Board of Advisors include Dr. Derrick Gragg, Vice-President and Director of Athletics, The University of Tulsa; Tim Duncan, Emerging AD Founder and Director of Athletics, Clayton State University; Bill Lansden, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, University of Alabama-Birmingham; Steve Stroud, Senior Associate Director of Athletics/External Affairs, Troy University; Jody Sykes, Senior Associate Athletic Director & Chief Compliance Officer, University of Oregon; and Dena Freeman-Patton, Associate Athletics Director-Academics at California State University-Bakersfield. There will be 10-15 additional guest instructors who will be announced at a later date.
Winthrop Intelligence (Win AD), Emerging AD Foundation Sponsor, will conduct Win AD Mock Interviews. A limited number of current administrators will be provided complimentary access to Win AD for 24-hours to review an assigned institution. Instructors will create a job description and students will interview for a fictional position at said institution.
