And Down The Stretch They Come

Believe it or not there are only 3 weeks left in the high school football regular season and now the race is on to nail down those post season spots. There are also a sizable number of teams that are still sporting perfect records. Sandy Creek, Buford, and Eagle’s Landing Christian are all defending state champions who unbeaten. Sandy Creek and ELCA are both on collision courses with region rivals in Carrollton and Landmark Christian , who are also unbeaten. This week Carrollton should get a test from an Alexander squad that pushed Sandy Creek to the brink last week.

In Gwinnett County, Bob Sphire’s North Gwinnett Bulldogs will host an excellent Collins Hill team. I’m sure the Eagles got the memo from Mill Creek  and should know the no lead is safe when facing at North.

Archer is the other unbeaten AAAAAA team in Gwinnett and it seems they are not getting the respect. It’s not their fault that the usual power players in 8-AAAAAA are having off seasons. Parkview’s lost at Shiloh tells you just how far the once might have fallen.

Tucker is still perfect in the always tough region 6-AAAAA after Miller Grove there looms a showdown with M.L.King next week. You might want to catch their final regular season game against a Mays team that has turned out to be a bit of a sleeper in the region.

The AAAAA post season could be the best of all with Tucker, defending state champion Gainesville and unbeaten Kell. There is one other unbeaten team that I will be keeping an eye on from the southside of town. The Creekside Seminoles have spent this season playing after the tragic loss of teammate  De’Antre Turman in the preseason scrimmage against Banneker. Head Coach Olden Downs has yet to speak to the media about Tre’ Tre’s passing, but it is clear to see that his team is on a mission. A showdown with region rival McIntosh this week is standing between Creekside and 9-0 record.

It’s the time of year when special things happen. crowdKeep watching , we’re getting to the good part..
