The official dates for the BB&T Atlanta Open are July 19-27, but the competition is already underway. Metro Atlanta tennis facilities have hosted pre-qualifying events with the final four headed to Atlantic Station for the BB&T Atlanta Open Wild Card Challenge Monday July 14, and Tuesday July 15.
Chris Eubanks received an invitation to play in the BB&T Atlanta Open Qualifying Rounds. This year the Westlake High School graduate is looking to play his way into the tournament field. Playing in an ATP tournament just blocks away from the Georgia Tech campus would be extra special for Eubanks, who will be a freshman there in the fall.
Eubanks will face Marietta resident Raian Luchici, while Lawrenceville’s Ian Melnik faces Korey Lovett from Brevard, North Carolina. Melnik and Lovett will meet at 10am, with Eubanks and Luchici starting no earlier than 12:30. The winners will meet in the final on Tuesday at 10am with a spot in the in the BB&T Atlanta Open Qualifying tournament on the line.
The Wildcard Challenger is free to the public and will be played on court 3 is located adjacent to the practice courts and can be accessed from 20th Street at Atlantic Station.
