St. Pius X will host a signing ceremony for three volleyball student-athletes on November 10 at 3:30pm in the school cafeteria. Chloe Anderton (Brookhaven) will sign a grant-in-aid with Clemson University, Clare Naughton (Garden Hills) with Boston College and Katie Parnell (Brookhaven) with Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN.
Anderton, an outside hitter and middle blocker during her time at St. Pius X, was recently named as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Under Armour Third Team All-American. The first in the history of the school. She has been selected to the Under Armour Watch List since her sophomore season and is the school career leader in blocks with 327. Anderton was selected to the All-State First Team and All-Area 8-AAAA team this season. She concluded her career with 563 kills in 343 matches and hit .335 for her career, the second highest hitting percentage in school history.
Naughton, an outside hitter, was the team leader in kills her junior and senior seasons and had the second-most digs this season as a six-rotation player. She was also the team leader in serve receiving this season. Her selection to All-Area 8-AAAA team marks the third straight season she has been selected for the honor. Naughton is a two -time All-State First Team selection being named both this season and after her junior year. She was also selected the team’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player after her junior season. She was selected to the Senior All-Star team by the Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association (GVCA).
Another middle blocker, Parnell was selected the Area 8-AAAA player of the year, after recording 198 kills and 87 blocks. She has been selected to the GVCA Senior All-Star Team. During her career she has been listed the AVCA Under Armour Watch List in each year since her sophomore season.
