The 2013 high school football season came to a close last weekend with the crowning of 7 state champions at the Georgia Dome. But, if you still have a taste for high school football, you might want to get out and catch All-Star Saturday. There are a number of high school All-Star games around the area that will provide seniors with another chance to impress the recruiters and provide some of you with a welcomed break from mall. It will cost you a lot less money for sure.
Starting with Rivals of Gwinnett All-Star Game that will present some of the top senior players from public and private programs located in Gwinnett County. The game will be played at Peachtree Ridge High School and is slated for a 2pm kickoff.
In DeKalb County, Hallford Stadium in Clarkston will be the site of the annual All-Star Game that will feature seniors from one of the most recruited counties in the state. Game time is 2pm.
Football teams from schools in Forsyth and North Fulton Counties compete in the same regions during the season, so it’s only natural that the seniors would square off with each other one more time. It will be Forsyth vs North Fulton Senior All-Stars at Riverwood High School at 1pm.
In Cobb County there will be a doubleheader.. Seniors from Cherokee and Bartow Counties will face Seniors from Paulding and Douglas Counties at McEachern High School at 10am..This game will be followed by the Cobb County Senior All-Star Game starting at 2pm also at McEachern..
Finally , there is the D.L Scott Coalition Bowl . It’s a day of youth football competition capped off by two high school all star games featuring selected players from throughout the metro Atlanta area. There will be an All-Star game for Juniors at 4pm, with a game for Seniors at 7pm. The Coalition Bowl will be played at the Georgia Dome.
So there you have it. No matter what part of the metro area you are in today, there is high school football to watch. Most of all it’s a reason to avoid the mall. My gift to you the sports fan. Enjoy !!
