With graduations done and the school year ended now the two month long wait begins. The wait until preseason football camps get started in late July and early August in preparation for the 2015 football season. But if you just can’t wait to see the pigskin being tossed around, the high school 7 on 7 season might give you the football fix that you need.
The coaches like the 7 on 7 tournaments because their players get to work on team chemistry and the players love it because they get to compete against someone other than their teammates. This summer there will be over 25 tournaments played around the metro Atlanta area attracting squads that will represent some of the top high school football programs in the country.
It all gets started this week with the annual Cam Newton Foundation’s 7 on 7 tournament. Now a Pro Bowler with the Carolina Panthers, this event is a good reason for the Westlake High School Alum to come home. The event lasts 4 days and is played at two locations with some 46 teams participating.
May 28 and 29 Westlake will be the host with Mays, Carver(Columbus), Carver(Atlanta), Cedar Grove, Stephenson, Creekside, Langston Hughes, Jonesboro, and Douglas County among the 24 schools set to compete.
