The Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday has become a special day for the NBA as a full slate of game will again be played across the country, led by the Hawks and Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena.
But for area high school basketball fan this holiday has become a time when some of the top program in the area step away from region play and go toe to toe with some of the top programs from around the state of Georgia as well as the Southeast.
Saturday , the Archer girls will welcome some of the top girls teams from around the region to Lawrenceville for the Krossover Classic. There are 5 games on the schedule that include:
Shades Valley (Al) vs Norcross at 1pm
Columbus (Ga ) vs Mountain View at 2:30pm
Holy Innocents vs McEachern 4pm
Wenonah(Al) vs St. Francis 5:30pm
Jefferson Davis (Al) vs Archer 7pm
Monday, Peachtree Ridge High School will host the Annual Blue Collar MLK Holiday Showcase with 5 boys games that should provide intense competition. The lineup for the Lion’s Den in Suwanee looks like this :
Langston Hughes vs Whitefield Academy 1pm
Greenforest Christian vs North Gwinnett 2:30pm
Laney vs Buford 4pm
Milton vs Alpharetta 5:30pm
Lithonia vs Peachtree Ridge 7pm
